Having trained in there brain stimulation he is the first psychiatrist in Wales to to be launching the offering of Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic stimulation (r-TMS) for the treatment for depression.
His Medico-Legal Practice involves cases of personal injury and clinical negligence pertaining to psychiatric disorders that range from post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, chronic pain, and brain injuries. He has a Cardiff University Bond Solon Expert Witness certificate and has been providing Medico-Legal reports to the civil courts since 2004. Dr. Sakhuja is recognized as a Tier 1 Expert by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.
Dr. Raman Sakhuja, the best adult psychiatrist in Wales, was the Chair of 2 Faculties of the Royal College of Psychiatry in Wales that included General Adult Psychiatry and Addictions Psychiatry.
He was awarded as the Psychiatrist of the Month whilst bearing the Royal College Office position.
As part of his College roles, he was the 1st Psychiatrist to host the UK-wide Addictions Faculty Conference in Cardiff.

He worked with the University of Roehampton and published work on Alcohol and Gambling Addiction several years ago, much before Gambling Addiction started to be recognized as a problem in Wales.
Dr. Sakhuja was part of the Welsh Government Group on Alcohol-Related Brain Damage. He is the co-author of the Welsh Framework on the management of Alcohol-Related Brain Damage and was instrumental in writing up a clear diagnostic and management pathway as part of the framework.
Dr. Sakhuja has been involved in Chronic Pain and Addictions work in the past. He was part of a TV documentary- Wales in Pain several years ago. He has also been on BBC Radio talking about Psychiatry of Addictions in the past.
He was an Honorary Lecturer for the Undergraduate Psychiatry program and was awarded a Certificate of Excellence in Teaching by the Health Board he was working for.

He was the ECT Clinical Lead in Cwm Taf University Health Board.
Dr. Sakhuja was also the Psychiatry representative in the Medicines Management Committee for Cwm Taf University Health Board.
Dr. Sakhuja was the lead clinical investigator from Cwm Taf UHB for BRAINTRAIN - the 1st ever multi-center fMRI study of Neurofeedback in Alcohol.
Dr. Raman Sakhuja has also been associated with Maastricht University and also Brain Centres in the Netherlands where he has trained in EEG-based Neurofeedback in Neurodevelopmental Disorders.
Dr. Sakhuja was the lead for Clinical Governance for Addictions Service in the NHS in Cwm Taf University Health Boardand was instrumental in establishing the Governance framework for the Area Planning Board in Cwm Taf.

I approached Dr Sakhuja after being suspected of having ADHD as a child. Whilst the symptoms I had diminished over time I still had various issues and at the age of 42 decided to definitively get to the bottom of it. Dr Sakhuja was fantastic, looking into my childhood history, speaking with my mother regarding her experiences with me and taking me through numerous thorough tests which not only aided my diagnoses but also looked at other potential conditions which I was not expecting.
